The Distinguished Care Group were nominated as finalists in the prestigious national Leaders in Care awards 2026.
The Leaders in Care awards are designed to recognise and highlight the achievement of the industry best across a number of highly competitive categories and Distinguished Care were recognised in the innovations in care homes division for the innovative approaches they have delivered in both care and business practices since their formation in 2025.
Although the group had picked up a local award the month before – the Northern Enterprise award 2026 for the most innovative social care provider we had no great expectations given both the size of the sector and the breadth and quality of competition (notwithstanding the relatively short tenure of the group since conception)
There are more than 16,700 care homes registered in England. 441,000 people live in these care homes 70% of which are residential and 30% also offer nursing care and it is estimated of these 441,000 people 309,035 live with a type of dementia
As a group that celebrates, recognises and rewards its internal talent and attempts to keep any hierarchy as flat as possible we offered our registered home manager at The Harwood Court Care Home, George the opportunity to represent the home and he alongside his practice development lead Amy attended the black-tie event on our behalf
Harwood Court were celebrating their first inspection under the Distinguished Care banner and had come to us in January 2025 – we could not think of a more deserving due to fly our flag.
Carry our flag they did, and Distinguished Care Group won the innovation in care homes award 2026!
Taj, Gurdeep and Paul the senior team at the group are incredible proud of the entire workforce – this is one of those times when the saying ‘we could not have done it without you’ has never been more true.
Thank you to every employee of the Distinguished Care Group – this one is for you!
