Help shape the future of social care
Skills for Care is creating a national toolkit to help adult social care organisations provide high-quality care and support.
We are working with Distinguished Care Group to understand the difference its approach has made to people living in its care homes, as well as their families and loved ones.
We would like to speak with people who receive care from Distinguished Care Group and with their family members, friends or loved ones. By sharing your experience, you can help other care services understand what contributes to good care.
Taking part
You can choose from the following options:
- Group video interview: Tuesday 27th October, from 2.00pm to 2.45pm. This will be a small group discussion with other people who use Distinguished Care Group’s services and their family members or loved ones.
- Individual interview: If you would prefer to speak with us privately, we can arrange a one-to-one phone or video interview during the same week.
The interview will last between 30 and 45 minutes.
What we will ask about
We will ask about your experience of care and support, including:
- the quality and consistency of the care provided
- any changes you have noticed since Distinguished Care Group took ownership
- how staff communicate with residents and families
- staff confidence, skills and knowledge
- examples of staff taking responsibility or showing leadership
- how staff respond when someone’s needs change or become more complex
- the difference staff make to people’s everyday lives.
We will send you the questions before the interview so that you have time to consider them.
How your contribution will be used
With your permission, we may include your comments or quotes in the toolkit. You can choose whether we:
- use your name
- describe your relationship to the service, such as resident or family member
- keep your contribution anonymous.
Once completed, the toolkit will be published on the Skills for Care website to share learning and inspire other adult social care organisations.

Please express your interest by Friday 16th October.
